Urban Design & Mapping Projects

Little Jamaica:
Best effort for a Culturally-Responsive Framework

Thoughtfully crafted to elevate what matters most.

A Revolutionary City Block

Site Plan of Bloor & Dovercourt Reimagined. The conceptual project was to design the city block as if nothing existed there previously.

  • PLA 1652: Urban Design Studio with Kanishka Goonewardena

  • An emphasis on creating a balanced mixed-use development for the public use:

    • community centre

    • residential housing units

    • commercial retail space

    • park space

    • hygiene centre

    • bike parking

    • splash pad

    • winter warmth hub

    • elevated outdoor stage

    • and more

  • This was a conceptual project, with no further next steps. Bloor and Dovercourt will not be demolished and replaced with this highly social-purpose yet ambitious project. We hope to pursue pieces of these dreams in future projects.
